VNPT and Polycom Announce Partnership to Provide Affordable and Easy to Use Cloud-Based Video Conferencing in Vietnam

  • New subscription-based video service, ‘VNPT Meeting’ provides flexibility, ease of use, and affordability.
  • The service will help businesses and government agencies collaborate across distances while improving productivity

Hanoi - Aug 29, 2017:

It’s now even more affordable to buy, install and use video collaboration technology in Vietnam thanks to an innovative new partnership between leading Vietnam telecom provider VNPT and Polycom, a global leader in unified communication and collaboration. This new cloud-based video solution, called VNPT Meeting, delivers a truly powerful ‘work from anywhere’ solution for those VNPT customers wanting affordable access to video collaboration to get the job done.

Using Polycom’s secure and cost effective cloud based video collaboration technology, VNPT customers can now overcome distance challenges using VNPT Meeting to host secure enterprise-grade video collaboration sessions. As simple to use as switching on the television, VNPT Meeting delivers immediate benefits including improved productivity and cost savings, by reducing time spent travelling to meetings or remote work sites. Making This solution is ideal for businesses and government agencies working across long distances and managing geographically dispersed teams.

Making video collaboration affordable and easy to use

Being cloud based, VNPT Meeting is also more affordable with flexible monthly subscriptions starting from as little as US$9.90 per month. To access the service, customers will also need Polycom RealPresence Debut, an affordable enterprise grade video conferencing endpoint, designed to be easy to use with its “plug and play” installation. This hassle-free solution means VNPT Meeting can be up and running within minutes often without the need for IT support.

“In a country that is so geographically diverse, improving efficiency and communication between agencies and departments are key priorities for government and the private sector. These can progress rapidly through technology,” said Mr Pham Viet Hung, Product Manager of VNPT. “By providing people with a service to communicate and meet through video and share content in real-time, vast distances are no longer a challenge, saving valuable time and money for organisations in all sectors.”

Traffic congestion and large distances are major challenges for government agencies and businesses in Vietnam, as employees are often required to travel for meetings with colleagues in regional and provincial offices. Before now, the costs for investing in video collaboration were seen as prohibitive for government agencies which operate with limited resources.

Helping organisations improve productivity and save costs

Dr. Huy Ha Hao, Vietnam Country Manager said: “In this new era of “working from anywhere”, our focus is on creating reliable and affordable technology that is easy to use and provides excellent video and audio capabilities. The best technologies are also those that keep up with where users need them to be, regardless of bandwidth limitations. Our powerful cloud based video solutions give people the ability to meet over video, delivering true freedom of location while enhancing productivity and improving business efficiencies.”

Dr. Hao added that Polycom certified partner, SunIvy Group can help customers get up and running with VNPT Meeting and Polycom RealPresence Debut, customizing the service to suit individual needs.  This includes adding functions such as multiparty video conferencing, recording and streaming over the internet.

Added capabilities of the RealPresence Clariti infrastructure for VNPT’s customers include Polycom RealConnect for Skype for Business, for successful implementation in a Microsoft environment and RealAccess Analytics, to obtain information on the performance and usage of the service.

Video improves provincial communications

The People’s Committee of Hiep Hoa District in Bac Giang Province is reaping several benefits from deploying the service by VNPT across 27 township locations. Among the key benefits are improved workflow, greatly reduced travel requirements, and affordable pricing model with the ability to scale up or down according to project requirements.

“Previously, several staff members would have to travel long distances across the province at least twice a week for the simplest of tasks – whether it’s for a project updates, decision-making or resolving an issue. The time saved from being able to instantly communicate via video has resulted in improving efficiency and productivity greatly,” said Mr Quang - IT Manager, People’s Committee of Hiep Hoa District. “We are now able to conduct staff training on a regular basis at a low cost, ensuring there is no loss of knowledge transfer and skills are updated.”
